A single by Roy White in the 11th inning lifted the Yankees to a 3-2 victory over the White Sox. Thurman Munson drew a leadoff walk in the 11th and moved to second on a passed ball by catcher Milt May. After Lou Piniella was issued an intentional walk, Steve Trout replaced Randy Scarbery on the hill for the White Sox. Two outs later, White grounded his single up the middle. [The Sporting News]
