Snapping a personal 12-game losing streak dating back to last August, Jesse Jefferson pitched a complete game to achieve the victory as the Blue Jays edged the Angels, 5-4. The score was tied, 3-3, in the ninth when Alfredo Griffin started the Blue Jay rally with a one-out bunt single.

Danny Ainge followed with a triple to right and scored on a grounder by Roy Howell. The Angels had homers by Tom Donohue, his first in the majors, in the third, by Dan Ford in the eighth and by Bobby Grich in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
