After failing to win in five straight starts, Mike Flanagan gained his first victory for the Orioles since May 12, shutting out the Rangers on four hits, 3-0. The Orioles went hitless through the first four innings before reaching Doyle Alexander for all their runs in the fifth.

Gary Roenicke led off with a single, Eddie Murray walked and Rich Dauer singled for the first tally. Alexander then passed both Kiko Garcia and Dave Skaggs to force in a second run before Al Bumbry added the final counter with a sacrifice fly. [The Sporting News]
