Making his first start since suffering a calf injury May 30, Nolan Ryan allowed only four hits, struck out 16 and pitched the Angels to a 9-1 victory over the Tigers. Carney Lansford and Willie Aikens led the Angels' attack.

Lansford had four hits including a homer, driving in three runs, while Aikens accounted for four RBIs with three hits including a homer. The Tigers' tally counted in the fourth inning on a double by Steve Kemp and a single by Jason Thompson. [The Sporting News]
