Exploding for six runs in the ninth inning, the Angels topped the Indians, 9-4. Carney Lansford walked with one out and raced to third on a single by Dan Ford. A walk to Don Baylor filled the bases and brought on Don Hood in relief of Dan Spiliner.

Willie Aikens was hit by a pitch to force in the tying run and Hood departed in favor of Mike Paxton, who yielded a two-run double to pinch-hitter Brian Downing. Larry Harlow followed with a two-run single and Dickie Thon drove in the final tally with a two-bagger. [The Sporting News]
