The Rangers rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to edge the Brewers, 7-6. Brewer starter Lary Sorenson set stage for his own downfall by walking Larvell Blanks and hitting pinch-hitter John Ellis with a pitch. Johnny Grubb then bunted and Sorensen threw the ball away at first, allowing Blanks to score and Nelson Norman, the pinch-runner for Ellis, to reach third.

Bill Castro replaced Sorensen and yielded a single by Billy Sample, Norman scoring on the hit and Dave Roberts, the pinch-runner for Grubb, racing to third. Jerry Augustine replaced Castro and intentionally walked Al Oliver. Richie Zisk popped out, but Buddy Bell then singled to plate the winning marker. [The Sporting News]
