. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Marking the second anniversary of his trade to the Reds by the Mets, Tom Seaver pitched a six-hitter and also batted in two runs with a double in a 6-3 victory over the Phillies. Seaver had one shaky inning, giving up the Phils' runs in the second on two walks, a triple by Bake McBride and squeeze bunt by Bud Harrelson.

Trailing, 3-1, the Reds rebounded in the third. George Foster singled, took third on a single by Dan Driessen and scored on an infield out by Ray Knight. After an intentional pass to Cesar Geronimo, Seaver foiled the strategy with his double that put the Reds ahead to stay. Johnny Bench added a two-run homer in the fifth. [The Sporting News]
