Capping a game that produced a total of 35 hits, the Royals erupted for eight runs in the ninth inning, including three on an inside-the-park homer by Willie Wilson, to defeat the Brewers, 14-11. Wilson also had another homer in the game, plus two singles, and drove in a total of six runs.

Dick Davis belted the first grand-slam of his major league career, Sal Bando homered with two men on base, Charlie Moore connected with one aboard and Paul Molitor singled in each of the first four innings as the Brewers slugged their way to an 11-2 lead. Their attack then stalled while the Royals battled back to gain their victory. In the ninth-inning rally, the Royals bunched seven singles, one double and a sacrifice fly, in addition to Wilson's third inside-the-park homer of the season. [The Sporting News]
