Allowing only three hits, Kevin Kobel turned in his first complete game of the season and pitched the Mets to a 2-0 victory over the Braves. The Mets were held hitless by Mickey Mahler for the first 5 1/3 innings before Doug Flynn smashed a homer. Flynn also scored the Mets' other run off reliever Bo McLaughlin in the eighth, hitting a single, advancing on a sacrifice by Kobel and coming home on a single by Joel Youngblood.
