Omar Moreno homered with two men on base in the third inning to start the Pirates off to a 6-3 victory over the Dodgers. Moreno's wallop came after a single by Ed Ott and a pass to Rennie Stennett. Tim Foli and Dave Parker followed with singles. Foli was thrown out at the plate when Willie Stargell singled, but John Milner also singled to drive in the Pirates' fourth run of the frame.

Don Robinson held the Dodgers to five hits, with their three runs coming on a circuit clout by Joe Ferguson in the fourth. The Pirates added an unearned run in the fifth and wrapped up the decision with a tally on a single by Phil Garner and double by Ott in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
