A bases-loaded triple by Jorge Orta sent the White Sox on their way to a 6-1 victory over the Red Sox behind the six-hit pitching of Ken Kravec. In the third inning, Don Kessinger singled, Ralph Garr was safe on an error by Bob Watson and Greg Pryor beat out a bunt to pave the way for Orta's triple.

Alan Bannister followed with a single for the fourth run of the frame, and Orta also doubled and scored on a single by Rusty Torres in the fifth. The Red Sox' lone run came in the third inning when Mike O'Berry hit his first major league homer. [The Sporting News]
