A three-run rally in the ninth inning, capped when Bruce Bochte homered with a man on base, gave the Mariners a 6-5 victory over the Indians, who were stopped on their five-game winning streak. The Indians overcame a 3-0 deficit and went ahead when Bobby Bonds smashed his sixth career grand-slam homer in the eighth inning.

Bobby Valentine doubled to ignite the Mariners' rally in the ninth and scored the tying run on a single by Larry Milbourne before Bochte hit his decisive homer. The Indians fell short with a circuit clout by Dave Rosello in their half of the ninth. [The Sporting News]
