Completing the longest contest this season, Craig Reynolds singled to drive in Julio Gonzalez with none out in the 18th inning for a 3-2 Astros' victory over the Mets. Pinch-hitter Reggie Baldwin, just called up from Charleston (International), opened the 18th with a single off loser Tom Hausman. Terry Puhl drew a pass and Gonzalez pinch-ran for Baldwin. After both runners advanced on a passed ball by Met catcher John Stearns, Reynolds delivered a hit down the right field line.
