. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Blue Jays bounced back to beat the Yankees, 3-2, after losing the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, 2-1. John Mayberry's home run with one out in the ninth inning enabled the Blue Jays to take the nightcap behind the pitching of Balor Moore, who won his first game of the season.

The Yankees scored two runs in the fifth inning of the opener to give Billy Martin his first victory since returning as manager. Bucky Dent singled, scoring Juan Beniquez, who had tripled. Mickey Rivers sacrificed, advancing Dent to second. Dent took third as Willie Randolph flied out and scored the winning run on Tom Underwood's wild pitch. Don Hood, in his first appearance since he was acquired from the Indians, worked 4 2/3 innings to gain the victory. [The Sporting News]
