Frank White and Pete LaCock knocked in seven runs to lead the Royals to a 9-5 triumph over the Angels in the teams' initial meeting of the season. A single by White tied the score in the fifth and his two-run homer in the sixth after a double by Darrell Porter and RBI single by LaCock made the score 4-1.

LaCock singled home two more in a three-run seventh that sent Nolan Ryan to the showers. White added a run-scoring double in the ninth. Brian Downing crashed a three-run homer in the eighth and Dan Ford added a solo shot in the ninth for the Angels. [The Sporting News]
