Whitey Herzog became the second manager in a week to be ejected for complaining too stridently that Jim Barr is doctoring the ball, but any illegal tactics on the pitcher's part failed to prevent his being raked for five runs in 4 2/3 innings by the Royals en route to their 13-4 pasting of the Angels.

Amos Otis, who drove home five runs, cracked a three-run homer to snap a 2-2 tie in the fifth. Willie Wilson and George Scott each had four hits and knocked in a run in the Royals' seven-run eighth inning that put the game away. Larry Gura now has a 7-0 lifetime mark vs. the Angels.
