Enjoying life in Bosox doubleknits, Bob Watson hit Tom Buskey's first pitch of the 11th inning just inside the left field foul pole to give the Red Sox a 4-3 verdict over the Blue Jays. The Sox pulled into a 3-3 tie in the fifth on a single by Butch Hobson, double by Gary Allenson and single by Rick Burleson, but were blanked thereafter by Mark Lemongello and Buskey until Watson decided the issue.
