Knocking in two runs with a sixth-inning single, Ross Grimsley sparked the Expos to a 5-3 victory over the Cardinals. The Montreal southpaw got credit for the win, getting effective relief help from Stan Bahnsen and Woodie Fryman.

The Expos were behind, 2-1, going into the sixth, when they loaded the bases on singles by Tony Perez and Gary Carter and an intentional walk to Larry Parrish. An infield out by pinch-hitter Tommy Hutton plated one run before Grimsley singled off John Denny's glove to cap the three-run uprising. [The Sporting News]
