The A's outlasted the Rangers, 13-12, in a 15-inning marathon, snapping the Rangers eight-game winning streak. Dave Chalk drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a sacrifice by Jim Essian and, after Wayne Gross was intentionally walked, scored the winning run on a single by Mike Heath. The A's had tied the contest with three runs in the ninth inning, the tying tally coming home on a single by Essian, his fifth hit of the game. [The Sporting News]
