With a crowd of 56,969 on hand, the largest in the American League this season, Cliff Johnson responded to the big turnout by hitting a grand-slam homer in the first inning to start the Indians off to a 7-3 victory over the White Sox. With two out, Bobby Bonds singled, Andre Thornton walked and Toby Harrah was hit by a pitch to set the stage for Johnson's smash off Ken Kravec. Johnson also accounted for a fifth RBI with a single in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
