Homers by Warren Cromartie and Ellis Valentine powered the Expos to a 2-1 triumph over the Cubs. Cromartie, leading off the game, got life when third baseman Steve Ontiveros dropped his pop foul for an error. Cromartie then hit a homer into the right field bleachers. Valentine's circuit clout opened the Expos' fifth frame. The homers were the only hits off loser Bill Caudill, who worked the first seven innings. [The Sporting News]
