Pitching his fifth career one-hitter, Steve Carlton hurled the Phillies to a 1-0 triumph over the Mets. The only hit off the veteran lefty was a double by Elliott Maddox with one out in the seventh inning. The Phillies' run came in the third frame on consecutive doubles by Carlton and Bake McBride.
