Mike Hargrove, who entered the game with a .170 batting average, rapped a double and single, driving in two runs, to help the Indians defeat the Twins, 6-5. After scoring three runs in the first inning, the Indians made it 5-0 in the fourth when Gary Alexander singled, Hargrove doubled and Tom Veryzer singled.

The Twins came back with a four-run rally in the fifth, but the Indians scored what proved to be the deciding run in their half on singles by Toby Harrah, Ron Hassey and Hargrove. [The Sporting News]
