A triple by Turner with the bases loaded in the first inning sparked the Padres to an 11-3 victory over the Mets. With one out, Ozzie Smith and Paul Dade singled and Dave Winfield walked ahead of Turner's three-bagger. Turner then scored on an infield out by Jay Johnstone.
