. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Indians won the first game of a doubleheader from the Twins, 5-4, when reliever Mike Marshall threw a sacrifice bunt away in the ninth inning, but the Twins rebounded in the second contest behind the seven-hit pitching of Dave Goltz to prevail, 7-2. After the Twins scored twice in the top of the ninth in the lidlifter to tie the score at 4-4, Ron Hassey led off the Tribe half with a double and was replaced by pinch-runner Dave Rosello. Dell Alston was intentionally walked and when Duane Kuiper bunted down the third base line, Marshall, trying for the forceout at third, fired the ball into left field as Rosello scored the winning run.

Willie Norwood singled home two of the Twins' three runs in the first inning of the nightcap and Dave Edwards belted a solo homer in the sixth. Roy Smalley's single to center drove in a seventh-inning marker. [The Sporting News]
