A four-run outburst in the fifth inning carried the Braves to a 6-5 triumph over the Cubs, who were stopped on their five-game winning streak. With the score 2-2, Tony Brizzolara led off the Braves' fifth with a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice. After Gary Matthews reached first on a fielder's choice, with Brizzolara safe at third, Rowland Office delivered a two-run double. Bob Horner then belted a homer to climax the rally.
