Combining on a six-hitter, Darrell Jackson and Pete Redfern hurled the Twins to a 3-0 whitewashing of the Tigers. The Twins scored twice in the third inning. Dave Edwards doubled and stole third. Following a walk to John Castino, a sacrifice fly by Rob Wilfong scored Edwards.

Castino scored when Tiger third baseman Tom Brookens threw a grounder by Roy Smalley over first baseman Jason Thompson's head. The Twins picked up their final tally in the sixth on a triple by Glenn Adams and single by Butch Wynegar. [The Sporting News]
