The score was 3-3 when Garry Maddox led off the Phillies' eighth with a single and was forced at second by Manny Trillo. A pinch-double by Greg Gross moved Trillo to third and pinch-hitter Del Unser received an intentional walk to load the bases. Bake McBride then delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Trillo.
