A two-run homer by Ellis Valentine and pair of solo swats by Andre Dawson powered the Expos to a 4-0 victory over the Padres. Valentine's blast came in the fourth inning and followed a two-out single by Gary Carter.

Dawson connected in the sixth and eighth frames. Expos' starter Scott Sanderson was forced to leave the game after five innings because of a finger injury he incurred while batting. Elias Sosa took over and limited the Padres to just one hit over the final four innings. [The Sporting News]
