The Royals ended their seven-game losing streak by edging the Rangers, 4-3. The Royals got two runs in the fifth inning when John Wathan and Willie Wilson stroked two-out singles and Ranger left fielder Billy Sample misjudged a line drive by Todd Cruz and the ball sailed over his head for a double.

The Royals added another pair in the sixth on a pass to Amos Otis, double by George Scott and singles by Al Cowens and Darrell Porter. All three of the Rangers' runs came on homers by Bump Wills, Buddy Bell and Jim Sundberg. [The Sporting News]
