The Angels won the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, 4-3, in 11 innings, but the Orioles came back to capture the second game, 3-0, behind the six-hit pitching of Mike Flanagan. The score was 3-3 in the first game when Rick Miller opened the Angels' 11th with a single. Carney Lansford bunted and both runners were safe when Dennis Martinez' throw on an attempted forceout skipped off the glove of Kiko Garcia. Miller took third on the error. Dan Ford then singled through the drawn-in infield to plate Miller.

The Orioles took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning of the second game on doubles by Gary Roenicke and Rick Dempsey and extended their lead in the sixth on a two-run double by Roenicke. [The Sporting News]
