A seven-run explosion in the eighth inning carried the Royals to an 11-6 verdict over the White Sox. The Royals trailed, 6-4, in the eighth when George Brett and Al Cowens opened with singles that sent Sox starter Ken Kravec to the showers. Guy Hoffman relieved, gave up an RBI single to Darrell Porter and was derricked in favor of Ed Farmer.
