A bases-loaded triple by Barry Bonnell highlighted an eight-run outburst in the seventh inning as the Braves thumped the Cardinals, 13-4. The Braves trailed, 4-3, going into the seventh, when George Frazier came on to pitch for the Redbirds.

Consecutive singles by Gary Matthews, Rowland Office and Bob Horner tied the score and brought on the exit of Frazier and entrance of Mark Littell, who walked Dale Murphy to load the bases. Bonnell then cleared the sacks with his triple. A single by Joe Nolan plated Bonnell.
