The Indians whitewashed the Twins, 2-0, behind the two-hit pitching of Rick Waits. The only hits off the lefthander were a single by Bombo Rivera in the seventh and a single by Glenn Borgmann in the ninth.

Jim Norris hit a homer in the first inning. The Indians' other run came in the seventh when Bobby Bonds walked, stole second and scored on a double by Andre Thornton. [The Sporting News]
