A three-run homer by Freddie Patek, his first of the season, helped lift the Royals to a 6-1 victory over the White Sox. Ross Baumgarten retired the first 13 Royals before Al Cowens singled in the fifth inning. George Scott walked and a double by John Wathan plated Cowens.
