. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Ending their five-game losing skein, the A's beat the Red Sox, 8-6. Mitchell Page belted a two-run homer in the first inning and socked a two-run double in the fifth. After the Red Sox tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on a three-run homer by Fred Lynn, the A's kayoed Sox starter Steve Renko in the sixth on a two-out double by Jim Essian and four straight singles. Tony Armas blasted a solo round-tripper for the A's in the eighth before Dwight Evans countered with a two-run shot in the Red Sox half. [The Sporting News]
