Erupting for five runs in the second inning, the Blue Jays went on to post an 8-4 triumph over the Rangers. Rico Carty led off the Jays' second with a double. After a single by John Mayberry, Otto Velez blasted a three-run homer. Later in the inning, Danny Ainge stroked a two-run single. Velez hit his second round-tripper of the game in the seventh.
