An unearned run in the 11th inning enabled the Tigers to defeat the Blue Jays, 4-3. The Tigers, who had a two-run homer by Tom Brookens and a solo shot by John Wockenfuss, were within one out of a 3-1 victory when Rick Cerone hit a two-run homer in the ninth to tie the score.

In the 11th, Ed Putman doubled for the Tigers and yielded the basepaths to Lynn Jones. Ron LeFlore then grounded to Alfredo Griffin and when the Blue Jay shortstop threw wildly, Jones came home with the Tigers' winning run. [The Sporting News]
