Airtight relief pitching by Dick Drago enabled the Red Sox to hold off the Rangers, 3-2. Drago protected a one-run lead by getting the final five outs. The Red Sox scored twice in the third inning on singles by Butch Hobson, Larry Wolfe and Rick Burleson and a sacrifice fly by Carlton Fisk. The deciding run followed in the sixth when Fred Lynn walked, went to third on a double by Jim Rice and scored on a groundout by Carl Yastrzemski. [The Sporting News]
