The Angels scored twice in the first inning on a single by Rod Carew and homer by Dan Ford. Bobby Grich drove home Brian Downing with a triple in the third frame and stroked a run-scoring single in the fifth. The Angels' four-run eighth was capped with a three-run homer by Joe Rudi.
