Completing a three-game series sweep, the Brewers defeated the Yankees, 5-3. The Brewers scored in the third inning on a walk to Paul Molitor and double by Don Money, and expanded their lead to 3-0 in the fourth frame with a run-scoring triple by Robin Yount and sacrifice fly by Jim Wohlford. A two-run single by Sixto Lezcano in the fifth completed the Brewer scoring.

For the second time in three days, the teams engaged in a bench-clearing brawl. The Yankees' Lou Piniella and Brewer third baseman Jim Gantner were the principals. Piniella ran to third on a fielder's choice grounder and tried to knock the ball free instead of sliding. He ran past the base after being tagged out and Gantner charged after him. Third base coach Mike Ferraro intercepted Gantner and Piniella joined Ferraro and Gantner rolling on the ground as the benches cleared. Gantner was ejected from the game. [The Sporting News]
