A sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Al Greene broke a 4-4 tie in the eighth inning and lifted the Tigers to a 6-4 triumph over the Rangers. The Tigers loaded the bases in the eighth on walks to Jason Thompson and pinch-hitter Champ Summers and a single by Aurelio Rodriguez. Greene then hit a fly ball deep to left field off Ranger reliever Jim Kern. A ninth-inning single by Jerry Morales drove home an insurance run for the Tigers. [The Sporting News]
