Ray Knight hit two homers in the game and Harry Spilman and Hector Cruz both doubled with the bases loaded in a five-run eighth inning to carry the Reds to a 9-4 triumph over the Dodgers. Knight connected for his 5th and 6th round-trippers of the season to drive in three of his four runs.

The Reds scored off L.A. starter Rick Sutcliffe, who left in the sixth frame. A bunt single by Dan Driessen and walks to Knight and Rick Auerbach preceded a two-run pinch-double by Spilman. After Dave Collins walked to reload the sacks, Cruz cleared them with his two-bagger. [The Sporting News]
