Making his 63rd appearance of the season, Mike Marshall relieved Jerry Koosman in the eighth inning and gained his 21st save as the Twins defeated the Angels, 4-1. The Twins nicked Jim Barr for two runs in the first inning on singles by Rob Wilfong and Ken Landreaux, an error by Don Baylor and a double by Danny Goodwin. Hosken Powell tripled in the third and tallied on a sacrifice fly by Wilfong before Roy Smalley wrapped up the Twins' scoring with a homer in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
