. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The batting of Dave Parker in the first game and Bill Madlock and Bill Robinson in the second game paced the Pirates to 6-3 and 5-1 victories in their sweep of a twi-night doubleheader with the Phillies. In the opener, Parker went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs, including three with a homer that broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning. The Pirates also had a two-run smash by Willie Stargell, while Schmidt hit his 38th homer of the season for the Phillies.

In the nightcap, Bill Madlock drove in two runs with a triple and sacrifice fly and Bill Robinson accounted for two with a double to escort Jim Bibby to his fifth straight victory. [The Sporting News]
