In a Pier 6 donnybrook, the Royals outlasted the Blue Jays, 16-12. K.C. scored 11 runs in the seventh, three driven home on two singles by Freddie Patek. George Brett had a pair of two-run singles in the same frame and Pete LaCock stroked a two-run single. Patek added a two-run single in the eighth. All 17 Royal hits were singles.
