Scattering seven hits and hurling his first complete game of the season, Ed Whitson pitched the Giants to a 7-1 victory over the Dodgers. The Giants broke their five-game losing streak and beat the Dodgers for the first time in nine tries.

They scored three times in the fourth inning on a double by Joe Strain, walk to Mike Ivie, RBI single by Terry Whitfield, walk to Johnnie LeMaster and two-run single by Dennis Littlejohn.
