A three-run homer by Steve Yeager, his second round-tripper of the game, highlighted a six-run outburst in the eighth inning and lifted the Dodgers to a 10-8 triumph over the Astros. The Dodgers trailed, 8-4, in the eighth when singles by Bill Russell and Steve Garvey and a walk to Ron Cey loaded the bases and brought on Joe Sambito in relief of Bert Roberge for the Astros.

A single by Dusty Baker plated two runs and Yeager followed with his three-run shot. Derrel Thomas then singled, stole second, went to third on an infield hit by pinch-hitter Manny Mota and came home on a grounder by Davey Lopes.

Mota's pinch-hit was the 144th of his career, tying him for first place with Smokey Burgess on the all-time major league list. Joe Ferguson also had two homers for the Dodgers. [The Sporting News]
