Three hits apiece by Ivan DeJesus, Jerry Martin and Steve Ontiveros paced a 20-hit attack as the Cubs walloped the Pirates, 15-3. Doubles by DeJesus and Dave Kingman ignited a three-run start in the first inning.

The Cubs then broke the game open with five runs after two were out in the third. Martin belted a homer to start the outburst. DeJesus hit his second double of the game to drive in two runs and Bill Buckner batted in another pair with a two-bagger. [The Sporting News]
