An error by Montreal first baseman Tony Perez enabled the Phillies to edge the Expos, 4-3. Larry Bowa opened the Phillies' ninth with a bunt single and stole second. After Pete Rose walked, Greg Gross grounded into a force play at second base. Mike Schmidt drew an intentional walk to load the bases. Bake McBride then batted for Mike Anderson and hit a grounder to Perez, who booted the ball as Bowa came home with the winning run. [The Sporting News]
